Manage and direct all financial requirements associated with being a publicly traded company, including the preparation and release of timely, accurate financial statements and all regulatory financial reports; ensure that internal and external accounting and reporting is in accordance with generally accepted principles and that the Company is in compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements - ensuring compliance with local, provincial and federal securities regulation, rules and policies. Position will become a member of the firm’s management committee and will have internal and external facing responsibilities.   The position reports directly to the Chairman, who is the founder of the company and has demonstrated a decades-long profile of outstanding achievement, the CEO, a long time firm veteran, and the other executives.  The candidate will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, budget management functions, and ensure that company accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Provide the detailed, quality information required by the company’s highly intelligent executive leaders to support their decision making. Oversee a team of Controllers and the finance/accounting department staff. Company is a publicly held, diversified financial services corporation.  The successful candidate should have experience with the capital markets process, with particular emphasis on corporate finance and transaction dynamics, including specific processes related to the financing of acquisitions and growth capital using debt and equity.  


Examples of areas of overall responsibility:

  • Financial Reporting - Responsible for financial reporting for organizational leadership and other required entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and investors; manage the preparation of all financial reports.
  • Financial Analysis - Provide business analysis and cost analysis to advise business leaders of the most effective use of assets; prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions; recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance. 
  • Access Financing - Provide ongoing market based analysis to financing alternatives to help drive operations, including access to capital for growth and acquisitions.  
  • Budgeting and Forecasting - Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget; manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.
  • Audits - Supervise financial audits of both internal and external auditors; maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
  • Cash Management - Provide cash management and risk management; provide reconciliation for fixed assets and capital expenditures.
  • Compliance - Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements; provide record keeping that meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
  • Department Management - Oversee daily operations of the finance and accounting department; work with department managers to establish short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff; provide accounting policy orientation for new staff.


“Big 4” CPA with financial line management experience in a publicly held, multinational corporation. (Note: A solid background in a multinational, industrial company after completing public accounting experience is preferred.) The desirable candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting.
  • Although the candidate will have experience in larger organizations that have high/steep organizational super structures, the candidate will be prepared to work directly with the CEO which is often found in a “flat” organizational structure.
  • Working knowledge of corporate finance and the private equity investment process, with an emphasis on managing transactional financing.  
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality, precise information within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
