Executive Vice President - Finance
(Rye, New York)

Opportunity
Manage and direct all financial requirements associated with being a publicly traded company, including the preparation and release of timely, accurate financial statements and all regulatory financial reports; ensure that internal and external accounting and reporting is in accordance with generally accepted principles and that the Company is in compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements - ensuring compliance with local, provincial and federal securities regulation, rules and policies. Position will become a member of the firm's management committee and will have internal and external facing responsibilities.   The position reports directly to the Chairman, who is the founder of the company and has demonstrated a decades-long profile of outstanding achievement, the CEO, a long time firm veteran, and the other executives.  The candidate will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, debt financing, budget management functions, and ensure that company accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Provide the detailed, quality information required by the company's highly intelligent executive leaders to support their decision making. Oversee a team of Controllers and the finance/accounting department staff. Company is a publicly held, diversified financial services corporation.  The successful candidate should have experience with the capital markets process, with particular emphasis on corporate finance and transaction dynamics, including specific processes related to the financing of acquisitions and growth capital using debt and equity.    


Examples of areas of overall responsibility:

  • Financial Reporting - Responsible for financial reporting for organizational leadership and other required entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and investors; manage the preparation of all financial reports.

  • Financial Analysis - Provide business analysis and cost analysis to advise business leaders of the most effective use of assets; prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions; recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance. 

  • Access Financing - Provide ongoing market based analysis to financing alternatives to help drive operations, including access to capital for growth and acquisitions.  

  • Budgeting and Forecasting - Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget; manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts.

 

 

Senior Accountant

Associated Capital Group, Inc., an investment firm affiliated with GAMCO Investors, Inc. and headquartered in Rye, NY, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance and Accounting team.


Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of accounting for one of the firm's businesses, including preparing and posting journal entries and preparing brokerage and other account reconciliations.
  • Preparation of financials on a monthly basis for inclusion in consolidation of the parent public company.
  • Preparation of annual audited financials, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Maintenance of supporting schedules and files.
  • Preparation of detailed financial analysis on monthly results.
  • Research proper GAAP disclosure and presentation of transactions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting.
  • 3 to 6 years' experience, public accounting and/or SEC reporting experience preferred
  • Technology skills -- proficiency with excel and word required; familiarity with general ledger applications a plus.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and willingness/initiative to seek out and take on increasing responsibilities.

Investment Associate

Associated Capital seeks to hire an Investment Associate to join its newly established private equity investment management business, Gabelli Private Equity Partners, LLC (“GPEP”).


Responsibilities:

  • Financial analysis and valuation of public and private investment candidates
  • Industry and competitor analysis and ability to find market opportunities
  • Due diligence of potential investments
  • Create reports, presentations and recommendations on potential targets
  • Assist in execution of purchase and financing documentation
  • Business development including creating presentations, reports and ongoing communication with clients


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (pre-MBA preferred)
  • 3 to 7 years investment banking experience
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Superior financial modeling skills, including leveraged buyout analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and flexible attitude
  • Ability to multitask between analytical company analysis and client service seamlessly
